Parent-Staff Communication
Parent / Teacher meetings are held in November each year. Parents are also welcome to meet their child’s teacher at other times of the year if they so wish. Appointments may be made by sending a note to the teacher or by contacting the school secretary. Parents are requested not to seek to discuss any issues with a teacher at the beginning of the school day. This is for the health and safety of every child in the school.
A written report is sent to the parents / guardians of every pupil before the end of the school year. The report gives a wide range of information about each child’s academic and social development. It also included results of standardised tests, where applicable.
Parents are kept informed of school events and activities through newsletters. Text messages are also sent. Parents and teachers may communicate via a note in the child’s homework journal (1st- 6th classes) or in the homework folder (Infant classes).
Parents may, on occasion, wish to discuss their child’s progress with the Principal. Appointments may be made by contacting the school secretary.
Parents Association
The parents of every pupil in Ballyboughal National School are automatically members of the Parents Association. An Annual General Meeting is held in early October each year to elect a committee. The members of the committee organise events and activities in co-operation with the principal and BOM of the school. Meetings are held a number of times during the year to discuss matters of interest and to promote the involvement of parents in the life of the school. The Parents Association have a Facebook page which gives information on their activities.
